A senior Ghanaian stateswoman and a business woman with wealth of experience in both public and private sectors. During the Kufuor Administration, Her Excellency served as Deputy Minister for the Western Region from 2001-2006 and Deputy Minister for Ports, Harbours and Railways from 2006-2008.
Ambassador Sophia Horner-Sam was born in Cape Coast. She spent most of her life in the Western Region. She has four biological children yet a mother to many. She enjoys reading, playing golf, watching all sports with two that standout-tennis and football (she is a board member of Hasaacas Football Club in the Western Region and a strong supporter of Chelsea Football Club-UK).
